CRPF Full Form

CRPF Full Form is the official name of the Central Reserved Police Force .The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) has earned the distinction of one of the biggest of the Indian Central Armed Police Forces. It is under the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India.

The CRPF's primary responsibility is assisting the State/Union Territories in police activities to keep law , order and peace and to counter insurgency. It has held the command in anti-Naxal operations over the last five years,and has made significant achievements worth considering.

CRPF Full Form - A Brief History

CRPF was originally established as The Crown Representative Police in 1939 It is among the oldest Central para military forces (now termed as Central Armed Police Force). CRPF was formed in response to protests and unrest in the then sovereign States of India following the Madras Resolution of the All-India Congress Committee in 1936, and the growing desire of the Crown Representative to help the vast majority of indigenous States in preserving the law and order that was a part of the imperial strategy.

After Independence, the force was renamed as Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament on December 28 1949. The Act constituted CRPF as an armed force within the Union. Sardar Vallabh bhai Patelwho was the Home Minister at the time, visualized a multi-dimensional role that was in line to the evolving demands of a new independent nation.

The CRPF Rules as envisaged in CRPF Act were framed in 1955, and were published by the Gazette of India dated March 25 of 1955. Shri V.G.Kanetkar was appointed the first DG, CRPF.since the time, it has been working relentlessly to make India an improved place and a peaceful abode.
